AWS SNS
Get AWS budget alerts and SNS messages in your channel. No Lambda or access keys needed.
Connect one SNS topic per connection. Messages keep their original SNS subject and body.
Setup
Choose a Standard SNS topic
Open Amazon SNS → Topics in your AWS account. Select an existing Standard topic or create one, for example budget-alerts. Copy its ARN from the topic details.
Use a commercial AWS region; FIFO topics aren't supported.
Create the connection
Open Sources → Integrations → AWS SNS in appkeepr. Pick a channel and optional project, paste the SNS Topic ARN, copy the Webhook URL, then click Create connection.
Save this connection before subscribing in AWS so appkeepr can confirm the subscription.
Subscribe the webhook
In your SNS topic, choose Create subscription. Select HTTPS for the protocol and paste the appkeepr Webhook URL into Endpoint, then create the subscription.
appkeepr confirms the subscription automatically. Refresh its details in SNS to check for Confirmed.
Keep Enable raw message delivery off. appkeepr needs the signed SNS envelope to verify the sender.
Send a test message
In your SNS topic, choose Publish message. Use Appkeepr SNS test as the subject and Your SNS topic is connected. as the message, then publish.
You'll find it in your appkeepr channel. For push notifications, subscribe to the channel and enable notifications before publishing.
Receive a $1 budget alert
Point an AWS cost budget at your topic. The budget and topic must be in the same AWS account.
Allow AWS Budgets to publish
Add this statement to the SNS topic's Access policy, keeping the existing statements. Replace the account ID and topic ARN with yours.

}For KMS-encrypted topics, give AWS Budgets access to the key.
Create or edit the cost budget
Open Billing and Cost Management → Budgets. Create a Cost budget with a fixed Monthly amount of 1 USD, or edit an existing budget.
Leave service and tag filters empty to cover the whole account, and check which costs your budget includes.
Add an alert for Actual cost at 100% of the budget, with your SNS Topic ARN as the recipient. Save the budget.
Budget alerts can arrive late
AWS updates cost data periodically, so spending can pass $1 before the alert arrives. This won't cap your bill. See AWS Budgets cost tracking.
